NYSC PCMs discussion thread for prospective corps members to share advice, experiences, and tips about online registration and the orientation camp.

From time to time, I ask questions on my NYSC WhatsApp channel. Whenever a question needs deeper opinions or open discussion, I’ll share the link to this page.

The question will be posted here, and this becomes the place for everyone to share their views in the comment section.

The aim is to help PCMs prepare better for online registration and the orientation camp.

Important Things to Note:

  • Every new discussion replaces the old one.
  • Older questions are deleted, but the comments always remain. Because of that, it’s very important to check the date on the comments to be sure you’re responding to the current discussion and not an earlier one.

For corps members who are in camp or passed out of camp 👇

You’ve gone through camp registration yourself. You’ve seen what actually happens, not what people say online.

With that experience in mind, what are the three most important pieces of advice you would give PCMs coming after you?

Think about what surprised you, what helped you, and what you wish you knew earlier.

  1. Local man pls about the nerd clearance thing is it applicable to us who has registered but didn’t get call up number from November last year?

  2. Good morning, pls the person with a medical report ,asked how her description for reason in filling of the relocation form should look like.?

  3. Marycynthia Adaugo Anyaelegbulem

I registered on November last year and to God be the glory, I was among batch A stream 1 2026, So I was posted in port Harcourt, River State. So when I arrived at the camp, at the gate, the security ask those wearing chains and double ear rings both nose and ears, to remove them, so the security search our box to check weapons or vibrator or any harmful objects, After that we register our name in the book and was given a number,So we were ask to go to medical checkup, we show them our medical fitness and was given another medical paper. So we went to register in our hostel, My number on the gate was 1424, during my registration on the gate.so I couldn’t register that day till the next day, so after our early morning parade. I went for my Tom printing,So I went for bank opening according to my platoon no,so to round it up, no photocopy needed, it was just the NIN photocopy, just 2, photocopy of Ur results or certificate, 2. But camp is stressful ooh, enjoyment no dey for camp. Thank u.

  4. My advice is the same as local man gives: Don’t forget any document oo😂. A lot of people came to camp with incomplete documents, some had issues in name arrangement and year difference in cert vs senate. It is better you stay back and get everything ready than come and get sent back, and transport cost oo😂. I did my camp in cross river. From abakiliki to Cross River is 10k and from LGA to lGA within cross river is just as costly. Finally make friends and sell yourself(your business) this is where your independent life starts and where your business can get connectivity

This is for female corpers who got married Traditionally and think they can only deploy to their husband’s state only when they have court marriage certificate.

No, you don’t have to do court wedding before you prove you are married, u can easily go to court and do Affidavit of Marriage and get a Certificate for your Traditional Wedding and then do the newspaper publication and Husband domicile to proceed to the state camp you and your husband stays either you are deployed there or not.

Saying this because i made the same mistake and I won’t want anyone else to do so, i was posted to Kogi, it was when i got there I realized all this thing and it doesn’t even cost up to 20k to finalize it. Now i got registered in Kogi and have to do Relocation on Marital Grounds back to Lagos, hopefully, i pray it works out. What i would have just get in Lagos and walk freely to Lagos Camp to Register. But what you don’t know ofcourse you don’t know.

    Thanks.

  6. I was posted to Kogi state batcha A stream 1 2026, my bunk mate had issues of not having an IT certificate due to his higher institution being a polytechnic. He was sent back home for not having this, and he came all the way from Kano State. So please if you’re about to be a pcm, and you are a poly graduate, please get IT certificate and your school ID card too. Thanks 👍

Going to camp early will be a great advantage to you.

Also, two female corp members were decamped because one of them prescribed a drug she uses for the other one after hearing she had a stomach upset. The lady used it, and it affected her negatively.
So, if you have any health Challenge, instead of taking prescription from your fellow, visit the clinic o. They are professionals and will know what is wrong with you better.

  8. Going to camp early is advice able, carry all documents concerning your education and make photocopy 3 each before going to camp, hide extension (smuggle it in) mami nor dey charge phone oh, carry small provisions like tea , cornflake, butter e.t.c. Because their tea here is just coloured hot water, carry buckets and potting oh their toilet is bad, carry medicine for pain relief because the training is real body go tell u, carry purge medicine oh mami food and maggi 5&6 , if you can’t stand like usher in church for 5hours get urself exemption letter thank you

  9. Honestly camp isn’t bad as believe have made others to believe. According to what local man always says,if you go with a positive mindset you’ll definitely enjoy it. Plus always follow the right sources of information so you won’t be led astray when you get to camp. Thank you local man for always giving PCM’s legit info,God bless and reward you sir.

  10. Going to camp early is advisable, and beneficial, if you feel like you’re not feeling too well for camp activities ,just politely go to the camp clinic, socialize ,connect with people and have fun ,long standing hours is not for the weak oo

  11. Any issues you are having during your registration if it’s not incomplete document issues, just relax it will be resolved. And please don’t overdo yourself for that camp remember you’re replaceable. As a girl try and smile, socialise any guy that likes you , please like him back ASAP, eat his money because the camp is short . Then after the camp if he’s serious with you time will tell. And lastly don’t overstress yourself, don’t hesitate to visit the clinic if you have any health issues, don’t manage any health problems. If you re coming to Osun State Ede camp package yourself for the cold 😂😂. Cheers dear PCM’s camp is actually fun.

  12. Check and double check your dashboard before traveling to camp, especially those of that would travel far. Sometimes, for some people, the state of deployment changes, and I’m saying this from witnessing someone else’s.
In my camp, someone had go back home from Bauchi to Lagos because her state of deployment changed the day she came to camp, and she didn’t notice. It was during her registration they saw it, and sent her back home.

  13. Do not waste your money and and make 5 or 8 photocopies of your documents. I only used 2 photocopies which was : 1 photocopy of my NIN and 1 photocopy of my statement of result.
Before I came to camp everyone said make a lot of photocopies. I did 5 photocopies for each of my documents. What a waste !!

  14. Good day Local man, I witnessed what you said about dressing indecent in the passport during registration. A lady was sent out of camp because she wore an off shoulder top in her passport that is on the portal. Those Pcm’s for next batch should take note of this during registration

  15. Kolawole Emmanuel segun

There is a saying that carry as much as u like go camp but i recommend just try get some cash and what I mean is that guide oooo
Nysc food is just like for instance …a small taste of portion in a population … try buy food that will do u so u will stand where on camp ground abeg

When u get to camp … just forget about ur problems ,even if its so serious leave am and forget it with the little time u will have in camp … try to relate with people ,make friends ,smile at people and enjoy the fun and drama while it last because after camp …you are on ur own

Thirdly , nysc registration is very stressful even with the fact that all ur documents are complete, if u don’t have strength for stress abeg no put body

  16. 1. Follow instructions
    2. Make sure your documents are complete and correct
    3. If you’re a medical student, just know you’re coming to camp to work, no time to joke around, you will be at the medical centre 24/7

  17. Please can i get the link to access the Senate list and all that.
The link that i have seen, i have tried accessing it but they keep on telling me that i don’t have access to it, due to the information i have uploaded.
    I don’t understand.

  18. PCMs that what to serve in State, my advice to them is that, the should not carry any Sunday church clothes to avoid unnecessary load, because the are making use of white & white and make ur photocopies not more than 4 ooo

  19. Have the right information before embarking on your journey and your date of graduation must be correct with your certificate and some people are sent before of it

  20. Owolabi Afolake sumisola

I will advise the coming PCMs to endeavour they report to camp with all their original documents. Also they shoukd ask questions about the state camp they will be posted to cos not all camps have the same rules. PCMs should be ready to sacrifice their sleep, time and privacy. Do not forget to hold enough money and be yourself. You will be worn out get ready to be extremely tired but in all Have fun even admist the tiredness have fun. Some say the stress is not worth it, i wouldn’t agree cos the experience is everything.

  21. My mistake was allowing myself to waste money in making photocopies of my documents when the only photocopy they needed was nin and statement of result. I had to make More photocopies in the camp at 100 per photocopy just to completethe number to what I have been seeing online. For the passport, it was only needed to open bnk account. I had to make 8 copies cuz the one I had wasn’t up to 8. Not know it was of no need

  22. Having gone through camp registration myself and seeing how things really work on ground, these are the 3 most important pieces of advice I’d give to PCMs coming after me:

    1. Come early and be mentally prepared
Arriving early makes everything smoother—from registration to accommodation. Camp can be stressful, confusing, and tiring, so come with the right mindset. Don’t expect luxury; expect order mixed with chaos. If your mind is ready, your body will follow.

    2. Obey instructions and stay calm
There will be shouting, long queues, and pressure. Most of it is just to maintain control. Listen carefully, follow instructions, and don’t argue with officials. Staying calm will save you unnecessary trouble and delays.

    3. Be street-smart and look out for yourself
Keep your documents safe, watch your belongings, and don’t believe everything people tell you in camp. Some advice is helpful, some is misleading. Observe, ask the right questions, and use your own judgment.

  23. Go with all ur credentials
Make sure there is school stamp and a signature in either original certificate or statement of results because people were sent home because of the stamp

  24. 1. Make sure you carry all your documents, check and cross check.

    2. If you are redeploying with your husband’s state, go a day before or first day because it takes about 24hrs to reflect on your portal and you cant do any registration till then.

    3. Prepare for the stress mentally, may people cried.

  25. 1. Prepare your mind for it. Be ready for whatever and just roll with the punches. Don’t let anything surprise you, not the crowd, not the processes, not the barbarians. Just lock in and stick with it until you’re done.

    2. LISTEN AND READ!! There are signs everywhere saying order of documents, number of copies, who to talk to if you have issues, look and ask for these instructions so you don’t repeat something that can be done at once.

    3. Go early. I got here by 6 am and the line was already touching the gate. If you can get there a day before and help out, just do that. Chances are they’ll process you before everyone else arrives on the actual day

    1. Go a day before, it will ave you a whole lot of stress and by the term others are arriving ,you are already settled, have a good bedspace and done or almost done with registration.

White background passport is not compulsory,I took my old passport(blue background) nd they still accepted.
      Just 4 passports is fine.

  26. Take your original copies
Make all your photo copies before going to camp (3-4 copies would be enough)
Check your graduation date!! (A lot of people went home because of this)
Confirm your camp location before getting there ( one girl was sent back because of this)
    Take your NIN with you
Go early especially if you don’t want to stay in camp
If you have medical report learn about your “sickness” before going there you would be asked questions

  27. Don’t do much photocopy, I repeat don’t do much photocopy, 2 is enough for u.
Don’t snap more thank four passport, I repeat, don’t snap more thank four, you’ll only used 3

  28. Try and go a day before camp opening

    2-3 photocopies would do

Go with all required documents and follow local man guidelines

    It really helped me
    Thank you local man

    1. THYWILL INUMVI SUNDAY

Make sure you get all the necessary items and documents needed before coming to camp, because the camp environment is very expensive. Always ask questions before doing anything and learn how to be smart. Come with enough cash too.
