NYSC Name Correction: Addressing Discrepancies in School, JAMB, NIN, and WAEC

NYSC name correction is one of the most discussed topics after online registration. Everything looks fine until you notice your name is not exactly how it appears on your school certificate or statement of result. You’re not alone on this table. Wrong names on the NYSC dashboard is one of the unpleasant issues faced by prospective corps members.

It feels small at first but with NYSC, name issues are never small. The name on your dashboard determines the name on your call-up letter, your camp documentation, and eventually the name on your NYSC discharge certificate at the end of your service year. That’s the real problem everyone tries to avoid before it’s too late.

In this guide, I’ll be walking you through how NYSC name correction really works. You will learn which name errors you can correct yourself, which ones you can’t, and the right steps to take in each case. I’ll also explain name discrepancies across documents like JAMB, School, NIN, WAEC, and what actually matters when it comes to NYSC.

If this article clears your confusion, you owe me a bottle of Coke. Now, let’s get started.

NYSC name correction process illustrated by a Nigerian PCM reacting to a name error on the NYSC portal and later smiling after the corrected name reflects on his dashboard.

Types of Name Errors on NYSC Portal

Before talking about NYSC name correction, it helps to be clear about the kind of error you’re dealing with. NYSC does not treat all name errors the same way, which is what many PCMs often misunderstand.

Broadly, name issues on the NYSC portal fall into three categories. Once you identify yours, it becomes easier to know whether it can be corrected directly on your dashboard or if it has to be handled by your institution.

Spelling mistakes

This is the most straightforward type of error. It usually involves a missing letter, an extra letter, or a wrongly spelled name. For example, “Oluwaseun” appearing as “Oluwasegun, “Mohammed” written as “Muhammed”, or “Rachael” uploaded as “Racheal”, and many other variations like these.

Spelling mistakes often occur during the data entry stage when institutions upload details on the NYSC senate list. In many cases, this could have been avoided if schools released an internal senate list first, allowing graduates to confirm their details and point out errors before final submission on the NYSC portal.

NYSC recognizes that these are mostly typographical errors, which is why spelling mistakes are among the easiest name issues to resolve on the portal.

Rearrangement of names

This happens when your names are correct but placed in the wrong order. For instance, your surname may appear as your first name, or your middle name may show up where your surname should be.

Rearrangement issues are common, especially where different naming formats were used at different stages of documentation. By default, NYSC places the surname first but some institutions follow a different order of name arrangement.

Regardless of the format used, as long as the names involved already exist on the PCM’s record, rearranging them into the correct order on the NYSC portal is pretty simple.

Extra or missing names on NYSC

This is the most complicated name problem anyone can have. An extra name means a name appears on your NYSC dashboard that does not belong to you. A missing name means one of your names is completely absent.

To prevent identity fraud, NYSC does not allow prospective corps members to add or remove names on their dashboards. This type of name error can only be resolved through the institution that submitted the original records.

Identifying which category your issue falls into is the most important step before attempting any name correction.

Effects of Name Discrepancies on PCMs Records

Name issues on the NYSC portal are not just cosmetic errors. They have real consequences, and many PCMs only realize this when they get to camp and are asked to step aside.

Understanding how a wrong name affects your NYSC process helps you take corrections seriously and act early.

How NYSC name issues affect camp registration

The name on your NYSC dashboard is the same name that appears on your call-up letter. That is the name NYSC officials use during the camp registration and documentation process.

If the name on your call-up letter does not correspond with the name on your school certificate or statement of result, you may be delayed during registration or, in most cases, asked to return home to resolve the issue through your institution before you can be registered. NYSC’s position is that the details must match, since both names originated from the same source, which is the graduating institution.

Now imagine spending money and time traveling to camp, only to be asked to go back home. Beyond the financial loss, this is risky considering the state of Nigerian roads and emotionally draining for anyone involved.

Why NYSC insists on name consistency

NYSC places a high level of importance on name consistency because the programme is tied to national records. From mobilization to final clearance, your name is used to track your identity across multiple stages.

Allowing unrestricted name changes would create room for impersonation, duplicate records, and identity fraud. This is why NYSC draws a clear line between correcting an error and changing an identity.

By insisting on consistency, NYSC protects the integrity of the system and ensures that every corps member can be properly identified throughout the service year and beyond.

Types of Name Corrections Allowed by NYSC

It’s important to draw a clear line at this point. NYSC allows some name corrections, but it does not allow everything that looks like a name problem.

Many PCMs assume that once they see a “name correction” option on their dashboard, it means any NYSC name issue can be fixed there. That assumption is where most mistakes start.

What NYSC considers a name correction

NYSC considers name correction to be an adjustment made to an existing name already captured in your records. This usually involves fixing obvious errors that occurred during data entry, not introducing a new identity.

Corrections under this category typically include spelling errors and rearrangement of names that are already present on your NYSC dashboard. In these cases, the names remain the same. Only the presentation changes.

This is why NYSC is more flexible with these types of corrections. They do not alter who the PCM is. They only align the record with how the name was originally meant to appear.

Difference between NYSC name correction and full name change

A name correction fixes an error. A name change alters identity. NYSC treats any attempt to add a completely new name, remove an existing one, or replace a name with another as a name change, not a correction. This applies even if the PCM insists the change is legitimate.

Because NYSC does not allow prospective corps members to change names, such requests will be rejected on the dashboard. They must be resolved at the institutional level before records are forwarded to NYSC.

Name Mismatch on JAMB, Senate List, NIN, and WAEC / NECO

This is where many PCMs get confused. You check your NYSC dashboard and then start comparing it with JAMB, WAEC, NECO, NIN, and your school certificate. The names don’t line up perfectly, and panic starts to set in.

The truth is simpler than it looks. Not every document carries the same weight when it comes to NYSC name verification.

What Name Does NYSC Actually Use for PCMs?

NYSC relies primarily on the name submitted by your school on the senate list. That single submission forms the base of everything that appears on your NYSC dashboard.

Once your institution uploads your details, NYSC treats those names as correct. This is why most NYSC name issues are traced back to the schools, not the dashboard where the incorrect name is showing.

Other documents come after that. They may matter in other situations, but they do not override what your institution submitted.

JAMB Name Mismatch and NYSC

JAMB does not determine the name on your NYSC dashboard. The difference between your name on JAMB and NYSC does not automatically affect your eligibility or registration.

What NYSC pulls from JAMB are your date of birth and state of origin. The spelling or arrangement of names on JAMB is not the reference point for NYSC, as long as your school has submitted your details correctly on the senate list.

This explains why many PCMs with slight name differences on JAMB still get mobilized without any issues.

WAEC or NECO Name vs NYSC

Even though O’Level certificates are important academic records, they do not control the name on your NYSC dashboard. While WAEC can be used for date of birth correction, NYSC mostly looks at it during foreign graduate verification and when confirming maiden names for married female PCMs.

For others, as long as your school certificate and NYSC dashboard carry the same name, differences on WAEC or NECO usually do not matter.

NIN Name Issues and NYSC

NYSC works with NIN to verify identity and prevent duplicate registrations. This check happens during online registration.

To avoid issues at that stage, the name on NIN should correspond with the name on the senate list. Even when there are variations, the name on NIN must still be clearly correct.

For example, having three names on NIN and two names on the senate list is often not a problem, as long as the two names on senate list appear within the three on NIN. Minor spelling differences may also pass, though it is always safer for both records to align.

Once a PCM completes online registration, the name on NIN no longer plays an active role. NYSC does not rely on NIN names during camp registration. Even banks that request NIN for account opening does not dwell on the discrepancies.

Does the Name on JAMB Affect Correction on NYSC Portal?

No. The name on JAMB does not control name correction on the NYSC portal. NYSC does not use JAMB as a reference for correcting names. What matters is the name your graduating institution submitted on the senate list.

So even if your name on JAMB is different in spelling or arrangement, you can still correct spelling errors or rearrange names on your NYSC dashboard, as long as the correct names already exist in your school records.

Step-by-Step Process for Correcting Name on NYSC Portal

If your name error falls within what NYSC allows, you can correct it directly on your dashboard by following these steps.

  1. Log in to your NYSC dashboard using your registered email address and password.
  2. Click on the Name Correction link located directly below your passport photograph.
  3. You will see two options: name spelling correction and name rearrangement. Select the option that applies to your situation. Regardless of the option chosen, the next steps remain the same.
  4. Three fields will appear for first name, middle name, and surname. Enter the correct details in their appropriate fields.
  5. Carefully review the changes to ensure everything is accurate before submitting your name correction request. Once submitted, the request cannot be edited or withdrawn.

After submission, the status of your request will change to pending review. This review is handled manually, so you will need to wait while a human agent reviews your application to either approve or reject it.

Best time to apply for NYSC name correction

The best time to apply for name correction on NYSC portal is immediately after completing online registration and reviewing dashboard details.

This is the stage NYSC expects PCMs to spot and correct errors. Corrections submitted early are easier to process because mobilization activities are still ongoing and camp documentation has not begun. Waiting until your call up letter is out or until you get to camp will make things difficult because people with name discrepancies are not allowed registration in camp.

Once you notice a spelling mistake or wrong name arrangement on your dashboard, apply for correction immediately when the NYSC name correction is available. Early action gives time for review and approval before camp activities begin.

Deadline for Name Correction on NYSC Portal

The deadline for correcting your name on the NYSC portal is before you register in camp. Once a prospective corps member has completed camp registration, NYSC will not allow any name change on the portal or through any other means.

This means you must review your dashboard and submit corrections well before arriving at camp. After camp registration, your name is locked in the system, and that is exactly how it will appear on your NYSC discharge certificate at the end of your service year.

How Long Does NYSC Name Correction Take?

The time it takes for NYSC to approve a name correction varies because the process is reviewed manually by a NYSC official. For most PCMs, corrections are approved within a few days to a couple of weeks.

It’s important to submit your request early to ensure it is approved before camp registration. Delaying your correction increases the risk of your request not being processed in time.

NYSC Name Correction for Married Female PCMs

Married female PCMs cannot change their names on the NYSC portal after registration. NYSC enforces the use of the spouse’s name for married women, and attempting to bypass this through the dashboard will not work.

Trending Post:  Learn The NYSC Anthem Easily (Audio and Lyrics)

During online registration, NYSC asks for the husband’s name and relevant verification documents. That name is then used to replace the maiden name submitted on the Senate list. At this stage, PCMs are given the option to choose whether to use the husband’s surname, first name, or a compounded version.

Once online registration is complete, they cannot switch this choice on the portal. However, during documentation in camp, married female PCMs can communicate their preferred name format to camp officials and see if assistance is possible before final records are locked.

PS: Spelling errors in the names of married ladies can however be corrected on their NYSC dashboard.

Common Issues With NYSC Name Corrections

Even though the NYSC name correction process is generally straightforward, some PCMs encounter issues that can delay or prevent approval. Understanding these common problems will help you go through the process easily.

NYSC Name Correction Link Missing on Dashboard

Sometimes, PCMs cannot see the name correction link on their dashboard. This usually happens if:

  • NYSC has not yet made the name correction option available
  • The call-up number has not been released
  • Registration is incomplete due to an unsuccessful Remita payment

If the link is missing, double-check the above before contacting NYSC.

NYSC Name Correction Pending Review After Submission

After submitting a correction, the status often changes to “pending review”. This means your request is being manually checked by a NYSC official.

The review can take a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on the complexity of the correction and the volume of requests. During this time, it is normal for the status to remain unchanged. Be patient, as a response will come once the review is complete.

Application for NYSC Name Correction Not Approved

In some cases, NYSC may reject a name correction request because it does not fall within the types of corrections allowed on the portal. If this happens, contact your institution’s Student Affairs Officer (SAO) for assistance.

Common Reasons for NYSC Name Correction Rejection

  • The requested change involves adding or removing a name, which NYSC does not allow on the portal
  • The correction changes the name to a completely different one (e.g., trying to correct “Uche” to “Uchechukwu”)
  • Incomplete or incorrect details were entered during the correction request

Being aware of these common issues helps you avoid mistakes and increases the likelihood that your name correction will be approved.

Helpful Questions on NYSC Name Correction

To help you move past common confusion, here are short answers to the questions PCMs usually ask me.

Does NYSC name correction affect my call-up letter?

No, it does not prevent your call-up letter from being issued. However, if your name is wrong on the NYSC dashboard, the call-up letter will also be incorrect. Correcting your name ensures your call-up letter is accurate and avoids rejection at camp.

Can I proceed to camp while NYSC name correction is pending?

It depends. If the name correction applied for is within the limits allowed by NYSC on a PCM’s dashboard, you can proceed to camp. Such pending corrections will be expedited for immediate approval during registration at camp. If the correction is outside what NYSC permits, the PCM will be turned back.

Can I correct my NYSC name after camp registration?

No. Any error in your name must be corrected before documentation in camp. NYSC does not process name corrections after a corps member has been registered at the orientation camp.

Can I add or remove names on the NYSC dashboard?

No. Addition or removal of names cannot be done through the NYSC dashboard. Only your institution’s Student Affairs Officer (SAO) can handle such changes.

Can I correct my NYSC name more than once?

While there is no official limit to the number of times you can attempt a correction, the NYSC system is designed for one-time approval. If your correction is rejected, you will need to visit your institution’s Student Affairs Officer (SAO) for further action.

What if my name is correct on my school certificate but wrong on the NYSC dashboard?

If the discrepancy is a misspelling or an incorrect arrangement of names, you can apply for correction on your dashboard. If it involves a missing name, an additional name, or a completely different name, you must contact your institution’s Student Affairs Officer for correction.

Is there a fee for NYSC name correction?

No. NYSC does not charge for name corrections on the dashboard. However, if your correction requires the involvement of your institution, you may incur administrative charges.

Essential Tips for Avoiding NYSC Name Issues in Camp

Preventing name issues before camp is always easier than fixing them during registration. Here are some essential tips to help you avoid problems:

  1. Review your dashboard immediately after registration: Check for spelling errors, rearrangements, or missing names as soon as you complete online registration.
  2. Submit corrections early: Apply for NYSC name corrections well before camp registration to allow NYSC enough time to review and approve your request.
  3. Double-check your call-up letter: Make sure the name on your call-up letter matches the name on your school certificate. Any mismatch should be addressed before leaving for camp.
  4. Ensure Your Name on Certificate or Statement of Result is Correct: It’s not enough to have the correct name on your dashboard or the senate list. Make sure the name on your school-issued certificate or statement of result matches exactly. If it doesn’t, request a correction from your school before reporting at the orientation camp.
  5. Verify married female name choice during registration: Married PCMs should make their preferred name choice during online registration and confirm it during camp documentation.
  6. Communicate with your institution if needed: For name errors that cannot be corrected on NYSC portal, contact your Student Affairs Officer promptly.

Following these tips significantly reduces the risk of delays or complications during NYSC camp registration.

  1. Hello, good day.
On my senate list I have four names and during registration I wrote all my names but after pressing the submit button during registration it merged two of my middle names together and I’ve applied for correction but it’s still being reviewed and it’s been over a month now. I want to ask if there is anything I can do and will this prevent me from going to camp?

  2. I have applied for rearrangement of name since November still now is still yet to be approved or corrected and call up letter should be out today

    1. Uzochukwu Divine-Bliss Ebube

      Good morning local man
      I have a question.
On my statement of result and all my certificate my is Uzochukwu Divine-Bliss Ebube.

Even after my school uploaded my name it was still Uzochukwu Divine-Bliss Ebube on my Senate and graduation list.

But after my online registration the name appeared as Uzochukwu Ebube Divinebliss on my NYSC dashboard omiting the hyphen between Divine and Bliss.
So please my question is will the hyphen make me not to be registered in camp?

I already applied for name correction but it is pending.

  4. Good evening,
I have a spelling error with one of my names uploaded on the Senate list. Olajide was uploaded instead of Oladeji .Can I apply for spelling correction on my dashboard?

  5. Its funny how my school responded pertaining to the additional name that was added due to mistake from their data entry in my mobilisation that I can’t go to camp till next batch 😭😭😭😭. That I have to demobilize to rectify the correction 😭😭😭

  6. During registration for NYSC, I registered with my husband’s name as surname because the option kept reverting when I try to use my maiden name instead. So the surname on my dashboard is my husband’s. Do I need to apply for a correction to change this back to my maiden name which is the one in my school senate list?

  7. Kelechi Blessing

    Good day Local Man
I have a question Is this problem
On the NYSC Portal, Senate list and NIN my name is Kelechi Blessing Uchechi but on my statement of Result my name is written as UCHECHI, Blessing Kelechi. They misplaced the arrangement will it affect me during camp registration as I have just gotten my call up number

  8. Sir thanks for this information it really means a lot to us
But I’m really worried about date of birth please when can you tell us about that how date of birth affect registration in camp I will be very happy if you can talk about this

    1. The date of birth doesn’t affect camp registration. But note that whatever date of birth on your NYSC profile is what will be eventually written on your NYSC certificate.

  9. Muhammad Dayyib Shuaib

Sir, with regards to the change of name. My name on the NYSC portal is Hadiza Musa Yusuf. And on the marriage certificate is changed to Hadiza Musa Maina. My question must I change my name on the dashboard? Would this affect my certificate? Thank you.

    1. You don’t need to change anything but just understand that the name on your NYSC dashboard is what you will eventually have on your NYSC certificate.

  10. Obomejero praise oghenetekevwe

My name on my dashboard isn’t same as my certificate, just a slight error ..I tried changing its still under review

    1. Please I have additional name In my dashboard and have been told before now that I can change it anytime even in camp. But the memo you sent said for additional name or missing name etc. we should contact our school of which I just did so they asked me to come over to the school and apply for name correction/demobilization. But does that mean I can’t go to camp this section even though I make the necessary changes??

  11. Muhalli Abdulgafar

    Good morning sir.
    Please sir. Concerning the name.

My name on jamb is Abdulgafar with single F also on all my credentials is Single F

But when the school released the Graduation list it was written as double F. As Abdulgaffar.

Also on my statement of results as Double F . Also on Senate list as Double F. As Abdulgaffar.

And I have complained to the school.
    And they are making corrections.

So please sir with the time range of NYSC opening the registration portal. Can I register for NYSC ?

  12. Good morning Local man,
Pls I have a question, the name on my NYSC is different from the name on my certificate. The institution I attended preferred to use the name on my JAMB instead of the name on my certificate. But I have an affidavit from the Nigerian Federal High Court. I presume that it will be accepted in camp. The real deal is that my name was changed from Kennedy to Daniel. The reasons are there in the affidavit. I hope it is not a problem?

    1. I don’t know what Institution is that but every academic institution in Nigeria knows NYSC standard and they don’t compromise on that when mobilizing their graduates on the senate list.

I’m afraid the affidavit cannot save you from being sent back home from camp. Contact your school for correction.

  13. My name has a hypen in the middle and every single time I fill a form it’s there so I never really paid attention
    I can’t find the hypen
I tried to change the name but the link is dormant
Someone says it doesn’t matter and other’s say it’s a huge problem
    Please what do you think

  14. Kanwei Nneamaka

    Hello Local Man.
I have an issue of misarrangement of my first name and middle name only on my school statement of result Infact in all my school official records. I complained and was assured it was changed but my statement of result still came out that way. But not my Details on mobilization list, that one came out correctly.
So I eventually went back to my school to change the statement of result arrangement to match other documents considering that’s the only document that is differently arranged. Unfortunately it’s barely 2 weeks to camp now and the changes haven’t been done yet so I am worried if I should leave that one and apply for changes on my dashboard to match the statement of result or I should just keep waiting for the school to make the changes??

    1. Will I have issues during camp registration because there’s a missing “m” in my surname in my statement of result (hardcopy) but has been added in the school system and every other place my name appeared except that printed statement of result. Going to my school for a new printed result won’t be that easy. E.g Chibundom and Chibundo, missing m

      1. Hello.
My name was misarranged, as my middle name was used as my first name, and vice versa. Also my middle name was misspelt as Maryann instead of Maryanne.
I corrected the misspelling on the nysc portal, awaiting review. Can I still correct the misarrangement after the review is approved?

    2. If you should apply for name rearrangement on your dashboard, be aware that you are stuck with that order of arrangement for life because that is how it will be placed on your NYSC certificate after service. You are better off pressuring your school to expedite the correction process.

  15. maryam abdulazeez

And sorry please that first name, surname and last name dey cause confusion. Abeg let break it down:
So let’s say ;A B C is the PCM’s name ( first name, middle name and surname respectively) ,so in Senate list it’s C A B
    and on dash board it’s B A C.
Does that means you should apply for rearrangement and correct it to the way it is on senate list?

And say she’s a married woman and on her dashboard it’s showing D A C ( D is husband’s surname), can she correct it to her initial name as on senate list or she should wait until camp registration.

    Thank you..

Sorry ohh because this name issue dey confuse my confusion

    1. 1. Apply for name rearrangement on your dashboard.

      2. As far as NYSC is concerned, once you register as a married woman, you MUST use your husband’s name. You can’t eat your cake and have it.

  16. maryam abdulazeez

Good morning local man, please I’m a married woman, and your statement about “confirming name of choice during online register and camp registration”, do you mean whether to use spouses name or father’s name?

  17. Good morning local man..
This is regarding the Name arrangements.
My school certificate, and Senate list, has the names
    Surname: Komgbe
    First name: Isaac
    Middle name: Onyekachi.
    But my NIN has Surname:Komgbe
    First name: Onyekachi
    Middle name:Isaac.
What is to be done here Sir?

  18. Sir please my name is Oguejiofor Chikwadom Benita but on my statement of result certificate is Oguejiofor Benita Chikwado the M at the end of Chikwadom is not there and also the name is Disarranged on my certificate will it affect me, should I contact my school

      1. Sir please if I do the name correction on my dashboard and also rearrange it to Oguejiofor Benita Chikwado the way it’s on my statement of result hope it will be acceptable in camp am asking sir because on my NIN is Oguejiofor Chikwadom Benita with the M and also well arrange like this
So please sir hope it will not be a problem for me if i do the correction from Oguejiofor Chikwadom Benita to Oguejiofor Benita Chikwado on my dashboard sir?
        Thank you

        1. NYSC is not interested in your name arrangement on NIN so don’t make decisions based on that.

You are graduate for God’s sake. Take your time and read this very article to understand, not just to ask questions.

      2. Sir my name correction and rearrangement have been approved.. it is now the way it’s written on my statement of result
        Thank you so much Sir

  19. Good evening sir
Trust you’re doing good after reading through your article I still feel confused on school certificate,Birth certificate ,NIN, NYSC portal and Neco result my name was written as “MOGAJI OREOFE SAMUEL” but only on jamb letter it was written as “MOGAJI ORE-OFE SAMUEL” what do I do sir?

      1. Good morning sir please i omitted one name on my nysc mobilisation just so it can tally with my name on jamb and NIN but my statement of result bears 3 names while on the senate list and NiN is just two names can i go with a court affidavit to camp?

        1. Contact your school to add the missing name on your NYSC dashboard. Don’t even bother going to camp without that correction else you will be sent back.

      2. Good morning Local Man. Thank you for all the guides. I just want to ask if this is going to be an issue during registration at NYSC camp. My name is George Victor Dagogo Omubaraibi same on my certificate and Senate list but on my NIN slip, it is George Victor Dagogo

      3. Oladele AbdulRoqeeb Adedolapo

Hi local Man, pls I had an issue with my name they misarrange my name instead of (Oladele AbdulRoqeeb Adedolapo) which is on my statement of result and school ID card but they wrote (Oladele Adedolapo Abdulroqeeb). And they say that small Letter (r) in Abdulroqeeb can’t be changed to capital letter (R) due to system settings on NYSC registration portal. Have applied for correction of name since November last year after completing my registration, till now is still under review and the call letter sent to me bear the name with misarrangement (Oladele Adedolapo Abdulroqeeb). Although while applying for correction I requested for the small letter r to be changed to capital letter R in Abdulroqeeb and also correct arrangements of my names. Pls can I proceed to camp like this will this not cause issue and will I not have issue with capital letter (R) and small letter ( r ) of a thing. And I complained this to the officer in charge of NYSC at school he said he said NYSC will do it.

  20. Good evening,
I have a spelling error with one of my names uploaded on the Senate list. Oluwatosin was uploaded instead of Oluwatomisin. Can I apply for spelling correction on my dashboard??

    1. I can’t say whether or not your request for correction will be approved. You can apply for it though but ensure you complain to your school about the error.

  21. Ayomide Olamilekan

My NYSC registration portal is showing name on senate list not corresponding with the one on Nin details

  22. Good morning Local Man. Thank you for all the guides. I just want to ask if this is going to be an issue during registration at NYSC camp. My name is Olapade Temiloluwa Morayo but on my NIN slip, it is Olapade Morayo Temiloluwa.

  23. Hi
Ajao Aishat Temitope is the name on my NIN, WAEC,Birth certificate. But in my school and jamb details I only have “Ajao Aishat” no “Temitope” which is my middle name. I noticed in this write up that the fact that our NIN has three names does not really mean, I just want to be sure that i don’t need to go and remove my middle name Temitope from my NIN details right?

And also when I want to do my Nysc registration should I only input “Ajao Aishat” since that’s what is in my school details and not add my middle name “Temitope”?

  24. Good evening local man please I need your advice or response on this please, in my jamb slip I have my name as Tunde Kola Akhayagborke, while on my NiN I have Tunde Kolawole Akhayagborke and my school documents I bear Tunde Kolawole Akhayagborke so when our first senate list came out in April last year my Name came out with the NYSC senate list error saying jamb registration number doesn’t exist so since then i haven’t been seen my name
On any senate list and I had to go to the SAO they advice I go to jamb to do regularizion and I had to do that by going to jamb office to pay money for corrections but new list came out still my name is not in it is there something am not doing right and for real I have been on it channel following up but i still can’t figure out my problem please is there something u can tell me
To do please to correct my problem please cause i don’t understand why name not coming out with any of the senate list since April 2025 till date

  25. Good day Sir.

I have four names in all my documents. Njokanma Lucia Ugochukwu Tombra. On my dashboard after registration it shows my middle names together (Ugochukwutombta), without spacing. Do I need to do rearrangement about that or it’s normal.

Also, my NIN has Lucia Ugochukwu as first name and Tombra as middle name any need for rearrangement on my portal to match the NIN.
    Thank You.

  26. How long does it take for name rearrangement to be reviewed and effected in your dashboard…? Because mine has been showing that it’s been reviewed since yesterday..

  27. Ummu-kulthum Usman Muhammad

Pls how can you know that they have corrected your name, will the name change on your portal or what?

  28. Good evening local man what are the requirements for married woman during registration apart of marked declaration?

  29. Good afternoon sir..
Please sir when I registered for NYSC last year, initially the name was showing MUHAMMED SUMEYA, but later changed to YAKUBU SUMEYA.. instead of ABUBAKAR SUMEYA… I applied for correction since then but is still showing being reviewed…. Can it be corrected… Or what should I do sir

  30. What if the name on my Nysc is Daniel David with Stephen as the surname while the name on my result is David Daniel stephen because of first and second name intertwine. Do i need to do rearrangement?

  31. Oranye Nzubechukwu

    Good day local man
My own name discrepancy, nzube is on the nysc dashboard, while nzubechukwu is on my school statement of result and nin, I have applied for the correction by adding “Chukwu” to the “nzube” on my dashboard. I have gone to my school SAO, they said the dashboard correction is the only thing I have to do, that there’s nothing there for them to do. This happened in January, but the correction is yet to reflect on my dashboard, hope I’m still on a safe side by just waiting for nysc to effect the correction

  32. Please, does the solution for removing a name also applies to a foreign graduate?…..by contacting the Institution student Affairs officer

  33. My school uploaded two names, which are my correct names, but I am seeing three names on the NYSC dashboard. During the registration process, I only saw two names before proceeding. Do I still need to contact the school for the removal of the extra name?

  34. Good day local man
I have problem with my registration number seen 2024 off to now the problem is not solving from my school students affairs
My reg number on nysc Senate list is different with the one in my certificate
    Please can’t you help me.

  35. Good afternoon bro
I noticed that my other name on NIN is Ore oluwa (theres a sace between ore and oluwa), on jamb and in my schoolit’s ore-oluwa but on the senate list it’s the name as the NIN because i told them to make it match with NIN

will this cause an issue for me during nysc registration?

    1. Thank you for this detailed article. I recently discovered that my state of origin is incorrect on my JAMB, and since you made mention that state of origin is the necessary information NYSC takes from JAMB. I intend to make corrections to this next week. But I would like to know if the correction once approved would reflect on my NYSC portal, when call up letters are released or if it would still reflect as an error.

  36. Esther Lee Grant

Hello Local man, my surname is “Lee Grant” but on NYSC dashboard it’s showing as “Leegrant”. Please will this affect me during camp registration?

      1. Esther Lee Grant

Thank you Lacal man. But my name on my certificate has the space not hyphen. Also I tried adding a name before and got rejected so I can’t apply again.

      2. Good afternoon Local man, my name is Emmanuella but it’s showing Emanuella with just one M instead of two M on my NYSC dashboard and I’ve applied for correction of name but nothing has been done will it affect me?

  37. Good morning local man, I have an issue
My name didn’t come out in the graduation list/senate list, and I got to find out that there’s name discrepancies on all my documents,
The name on my HND result is ANATE LAURETTA OGHENERUKEVWE
While the one on my Jamb admission letter is OGHENERUKEVWE ANATE LAURETTA, the one on my Jamb is LAURETTA OGHENERUKEVWE ANATE, the one on my WAEC is ANATE LAURETTA OGHENERUKEVWE…..
Please how can I go about this? I believe this is the reason I didn’t see my name on the Graduation and senate list

    1. Your school is responsible for providing your name on the senate list, not NYSC or JAMB. You should be asking them why your name is not there and what you need to do.

  38. Good morning, Local man
Please will NYSC accept another senate list since the president has approve 50,0000 NYSC mobilization

  39. Chukwuezi Obinna Emmanuel

Good morning local man,, please I have an issue that is disturbing me,, I registered for nysc batch C1 around November, and I had an issue with name arrangement on my school certificate, so I arranged it
    On the nysc dashboard
From OBINNA CHUKWUEZI EMMANUEL that first appeared initially on dashboard which is also on my school certificate,
To CHUKWUEZI OBINNA EMMANUEL which is the correct format and what is in my bank and NIN..and it reflected…
And now the dashboard is saying the name arrangement request is being reviewed after the name have been reflect ed, please sir I feel it is the reason I am not receiving my call up number, sir pls what do Yu recommend,,,,,
Should I leave it that way sir????

  40. Mbaeri Victor Alexander

Bro local man…..I was referred by a friend
Please I run a direct posting from someone who claims to be into nysc runs
I run a direct posting to camp in anambra ,but I got Edo.which I was very devastated because I never expected that
Please can you help me and do reprinting so that I can camp in anambra
Please bro local man,my father is a victim of prostrate cancer and I don’t want to go far from anambra
I would be looking for your assistance bro
    Thanks for your concerns

    1. I’m so sorry about your father’s health situation. Unfortunately, I don’t do reprinting. Your best bet is incamp relocation. Be patient on my WhatsApp Channel for updates.

  41. I noticed right after my registration in September 2025, that my name was missing a letter, I immediately clicked the name correction, it has been been under review since then,. What am I to do if it doesn’t change before going to camp?

    1. Good morning Sir, in a case of someone that have two NIN one tally with the the nysc age and we used it for online registration. But the other NIN tally with BVN but the age is More than 30. Now which one can someone use it for camp registration and account opening? Very confuse and worried

  42. If I use a medical report to leave camp early, I won’t be able to register at the banks in camp. Does that mean I won’t get my NYSC allowance?

      1. Jesam Emmanuel Otu

My surname is Emmanuel but on the nysc portal it Emmanuel and I keep taping on the link but it’s not opening on my phone. Do I need a laptop to do it?

  43. Please I’ve got something that’s disturbing me. So my NIN has the wrong date of birth which is 1994 instead of 2000.

And then the name arrangement on the NIN is “Machukwu Sandra Nmesoma.” While on my other school documents is “Sandra Nmesoma Machukwu”. And I’ve corrected the name arrangement already.

But then I heard you’ll use the NIN Slip in camp to open an account, will the date of birth be an issue.?

    Thank you Sir.

    1. Good day local man. My name on the senate list, jamb and waec is Adebayo Tayo Divine while the one on my NIN is Adebayo Olutayo Divine. And the issue is I can’t change my name on my NIN because Olutayo is what is on my other official document like my Nigerian passport. Could you please advise on how I can go about correcting this. I appreciate your response

      1. Sorry I can’t advise anything because you know what to do do but you don’t want to do it. You can just try registering for NYSC like that and hopefully you don’t encounter challenges.

      2. Muritala Sherifudeen

I have applied for misspelling of name in nysc dashboard and I also want to do rearrangement of name. Is it possible to do that too

  44. My NIN does not have my middle name but the middle name is in my BVN.
Please will I have any issue in opening account in camp and also in receiving my Nysc allowance because of this?

      1. Hi local Man,
My First Name is Ahmad and my Surname is Salis, on my ND result, my name is Written as Salis Ahmad while my HND result is Ahmad Salis, do i need name rearrangement?
